My parents became worried, since it’s been 1week and three days I have being down, I was always lying down, weak, urinating, drinking water and getting leaner. My mom was really scared because I was the healthiest child amongst her children.
Well, since she isn’t getting any better, let’s take her to the hospital my dad suggested.
I managed to stand up from the bed and was getting ready, when my immediate elder brother came into my room, he was talking about something related to our favorite Philippines TV series “Mara and Clara” , when I passed out.
I could hear; “madam, what did you say is wrong with her?, Pls, nurse I need a blue cannula, she has tiny veins, what’s her name?, Grace! Grace!! Can you hear me?.
i opened my eyes slowly, I could hear everything that was going on, I could see my immediate elder brother crying, my mom was on bare foot with tears on her face, my dad was at a corner talking with a nurse or doctor I guess.
She has been complaining of weakness, she doesn’t eat much but drinks a lot of water and urinate frequently. I lay quietly and listened as my mum list all the symptoms to the doctor. The doctor a tall, well-built man, I am sure should be in his early or mid forties repeated the symptoms to my mum
” Madam did you say she urinate frequently and drink alot of water”? My mom nodded in affirmation.
Grace! Grace!! can you hear me? He asked again, Nurse can I please get a Glucometer, he said to a nurse standing by.
My dad came in, has she opened her eyes? He asked no one in particular, he called my name and then pinched my leg, I guess that’s to check if I was still alive.
A nurse later came in with the Glucometer, a small looking machine that looks like a nokia touch light phone, but the difference is that it has just two buttons with a small hole where something like a sim card could be slot in.
She gave the Glucometer to the doctor after sloting in the card and then using something like a pen to prick my pinky finger and drawing out a dot of blood.
The doctor held my pinky finger with blood and then used it to touch the card on the Glucometer, it bleep for some seconds and then displayed something on the screen. Wow, this is high, 453 the doctor exclaimed.
